The existing house is currently of a faux Cape Dutch style. Our design proposal aims to take the existing framework and reinterpret the space into a more contextually responsive architecture, opening it into the natural beauty surrounding the site. .

We have terraced our proposal in a way that exploits the full extent of the sloped landscape by reinstating a terraced Fynbos garden to the north and tucking a garage into the existing driveway slope. A winding staircase leads you to the entrance has been aligned to bring an element of symmetry to the original façade with a voluminous stone barrel vault. A new entertainment space is opened up on the western side, nudging the lounge forward to take advantage of the panoramic mountain and sea views.

A music room replaces the old garage and leads into a dining room in the new conservatory, which the terminates along the soft curved stone wall of the cellar. Adjacent to the cellar we have positioned a library, which forms the back brace to the courtyard.
The design utilises the entire top floor into the master suite with two north facing balconies boasting amazing views. The main en-suite bathroom enters on to an outside staircase which leads one to the outdoor bath and shower boasting magnificent views up the slope of the mountain.
